Polycarbonate: Security Glazing
Presented by Mike Coruzzi, Greg Hallam and Rick Horton from PLASKOLITE.

Product overview of polycarbonate solutions for...
Building owners value daylighting and views but face security and safety challenges with large amounts of glazing. Thermoplastic sheet products offer a variety of glazing solutions that resist security threats while providing transparency, strength, and durability.
This course introduces the grades and characteristics of polycarbonate and discuss the requirements for protection against forced entry and ballistics.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this 30-minute session, participants will be able to:
- Define how polycarbonate sheet can be used as an alternative to laminated glass in applications where transparency and strength are needed to protect a building and its occupants safely against forced entry and ballistics
- Recognize how polycarbonate sheet can improve daylighting systems and increase occupant comfort by examining their optical characteristics, including their high degree of light transmission and ultraviolet (UV) resistance
- List the performance criteria for polycarbonate by referencing standard specifications and regulatory codes identifying key application areas where polycarbonate is used in safety glazing
- Evaluate the glazing needs of a building project and select the appropriate polycarbonate product to satisfy its visibility and security requirements
